During centuries, coming from the north, the only way to go to Bordeaux was to cross the river by boat. Then the bridges were built. Nowadays the TGV (High Speed Train) come into the town by a new bridge. Till last year, they used to cross the Garonne on the first big work constructed by Gustave Eiffel, long time before the Tour Eiffel.
Pendant des siècles, en venant du nord, le seul moyen d'aller à Bordeaux était de traverser le fleuve en bateau. Puis les ponts ont été édifiés. De nos jours, les TGV viennent en ville par un nouveau pont. Jusqu'à l'an dernier, ils traversaient la Garonne en empruntant le premier gros chantier de Gustave Eiffel, construit bien avant la Tour Eiffel.
