The old gate became an arch

The tower was the entrance of the royal residence where Alienor of Aquitaine, Queen of France then Queen of England used to live. During a hundred years, a terrible war will see french and english fighting for this place.

Late in the old town

La Grosse Cloche is one of the most famous monument in town. The bell only rings for great events : a new century, WWII Victory Day. From the english occupation till the Revolution, there was the Town Hall. The tower was the belfry. It is the one we can see on Bordeaux coat of arms.
