It could be somewhere in New York city, in the Bronx or old Brooklin... But this building, squattered and destroyed was formerly the SNCF (The franch national train company) grocery supplier's for the employees, in La Bastide, the right bank of the river.

The Alcazar
L'Alcazar was a theatre till it became The Eden cinema. On this stage died the famous mime Charles Debureau immortalized by MarcelCarné in "Children of Paradise". Maurice Chevalier came there and so many others.

Bordeaux during the 30's

Hotel de Cheverus
Cet hôtel particulier fut constuit pour le Cardinal de Cheverus, archevêque de Boredaux, sous le règne de Louis XV. Aujourd'hui le siège du journal quotidien bordelais, Sud-Ouest.
This mansion house was built for the Cardinal de Cheverus, archbishop of Bordeaux, during Louis XV's reign. Nowadays the head office of Bordeaux daily newspaper, Sud-Ouest.

A vertical garden
Conçu il y a quelques années, ce petit jardin public est rempli de plantes. Son originalité ? Il pousse à la verticale. Un, espace beau et paisible dans le Vieux Bordeaux, square Vinet.
Designed few years ago, this little public garden is full of plants. Its originality ? It grows vertically. A nice and peaceful place in the old Bordeaux, Square Vinet.

Old shop signs
Il y avait beaucoup de petites échoppes au rez de chaussée des maisons au début du XXe siècle. Cetté épicerie-débit de boissons était Avenue Thiers, sur la Rive droite.
There was a lot of these small shops opened on the groud floor of private houses during the early XXth century. This grocer and wine's was Avenue Thiers, on the right bank of the River.
